Tower 3, 2019
Hydrostone on painted wood base
Tower 3 is another project from my advanced sculpture class.
This time we focused on casting and creating a project based on multiples
of whatever we were casting.
I chose to create an object from wood and cast that, but it wasn't actually
this object I expected to create the final work from. The other object I'd
planned to use - a top I also created - turned out to be rather dull when cast,
while this one picked up all kinds of light and shadow. As a result I changed
the focus and used this one.
Each layer consists of three objects bonded to a triangular core, and ten
layers make up the complete sculpture.
