In addition to writing the above, I'm also writing a series of more-or-less monthly articles for our local news magazine - the Mountain Network News. These are written in my role as a volunteer fire fighter, and designed to help the community with safety related topics. Some notes about these:

• Though my name appears on them - here and in the MNN - these were all reviewed, commented on, and approved by the senior members of Loma Prieta Volunteer Fire And Rescue before they are published. I'm not going to publish anything for LPVFR without their approval. As a simple fire fighter I simply cannot speak for the organization.
• While these articles may be of general interest, they are related to our community in the Santa Cruz Mountains above Los Gatos, California. If you live in Santa Cruz County, AZ, your local rules & regulations may be very different.
• The articles are published here in their original form. The MNN may have edited them for space or other considerations before they were published there.

And the writing doesn't end there. I'm also writing a series of articles introducing various members of the fire department. These are also published in the MNN. All the caveats listed about the VFD related articles above apply here. In addition, the volunteers are selected at random each month, so no one knows who's next.
