The Summit Fire burned hot and fast on the morning of May 22, 2008
when it started. The devastation it left behind will be felt for
a long, long time. This is taken from the northern edge of the fire,
looking south south-east, in the general direction of Corralitos and
the Monterey bay.
Note that smoke still rises from the burned areas three days
after the fire started, and that's nothing. There were hot spots
found in the burn weeks after the fire was declared controlled.
