The ash fall from the Indians fire was amazing. People had ash on their cars as far north as Oakland - something like 50 miles farther north of the fire than we were.

I left a window open overnight, not thinking about the ash. In the morning it was all over everything. I took this picture of the ash with the macro mode on my camera. The object in the upper left corner is the end of a a pen cap.
