the winners
Here we are... the motley crew that took 6 of the top 8 places out of 23 or so fencers that day. They are, from left to right:
  • 8th place: Chris Koerber -- fenced with my club for a long time.
  • 7th place: Dave Lewis -- fences with me now, and a good friend.
  • 6th place: Richard King -- not pictured
  • 5th place: Jere Bothelio-- not pictured
  • 3rd place (tie): Mark Wheeler
  • 3rd place (tie): Mike Perka
  • 2nd place: Jeff Powell
  • 1st place: Phil Gerring
  • The director who ran the tournament -- Abdul Habek

These are all very good folks, and fun to be with. Tom Conroy once said you meet the nicest people when you're playing with pointed sticks. He was (and still is!) absolutely correct about that.
