That's my back, and my opponent -- Jere Bothelio -- beyond me. Jere is 10 years
older than I am, and very quick. Mostly a self taught epee fencer, he's
come up the ranks over the years. I met him at my first fencing
club here in CA, while taking lessons from John DeCesare. Since then he's
earned his A rating and gone on to fence in the 50+ (Veterans) world
championships in 2004. He's a great guy, and a very good fencer,
so I figured I was doomed when I got him in my second DE, but I
didn't mind. If I was going to lose, Jere's a good one to lose to.
What we're doing here is testing our weapons to be sure they don't
register a touch when we hit each other's bell guards.
